ABOUT THE ALCHEMY ATTORNEYS

Our story is your story

Every family that walks through our door is in the middle of a transformation. So were we. That is why we understand yours.

THE JOURNEY

Out of the Ashes of Litigation to The Healing Practice of Transmutation

For two decades Victoria practiced family law the way the profession expects. Motions filed, hearings argued, trials run in courtrooms across Texas. She was good at it. But year after year she watched even the winning families walk out carrying wounds that no judgment could heal.

The turning point was not a case. It was a question: what if the law could transform conflict instead of only deciding it? Alchemy is the old word for turning base metal into gold. It became the name for the work, turning the hardest chapter of a family’s life into the beginning of a better one.

The practice moved home to Austin and rebuilt around mediation and collaborative law. Mediation rates are published on this website instead of quoted on a call. Clients are addressed as co-creators of their own resolution rather than as case numbers.

Mediation first does not mean litigation never. Twenty years in the courtroom is exactly what makes the mediation credible. When a case genuinely belongs in front of a judge, it goes there. What changed is the order of the questions: what does this family actually need, and only then, what does the law allow.

Today the practice runs from Austin. Most matters come from Travis and Williamson counties, where the firm appears in the family courts regularly. Mediation reaches further, because it runs over Zoom and Texas has 254 counties. A family in Houston or El Paso gets the same session as a family two streets away.

I did not set out to become The Alchemy Attorney. Life happened, and I evolved.

MORE ABOUT VICTORIA

The road that led here

Clients often ask how a twenty-year trial lawyer ends up building a practice around mediation. The short answer is that she has never had one straight line to follow.

Where she comes from

Victoria is the child of a United States Air Force veteran who charted unknown territory for minority women in the early 1970s. She grew up around that example, has lived abroad and in several parts of the United States, and today lives in the greater Austin area.

Education

She studied Sociology at The University of Texas, then earned her law degree at Texas Southern University, Thurgood Marshall School of Law, graduating with honors. She served as Executive Editor of the Law Review and published an article on Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition and the protection of children in the law.

Before her own practice

She clerked in Houston for the Honorable Calvin Botley, who gave her the Distinguished Intern Award, and went on to work at the Texas firm Jackson Walker LLP and in the corporate legal department at Reliant Energy. She opened The Law Office of Victoria Broussard in 2006 and founded The Alchemy Attorneys, PLLC in 2023. She is a member of the American Bar Association and is licensed to practice in all Texas courts.

Beyond the law

She writes and speaks. She is the author of i-Comfortable Victim, a novel about a young attorney living with the aftermath of childhood sexual trauma, and the creator of Live Well With Your Truth, a coaching system built on the idea that healing starts when a person can face their own truth.

A family in the middle of a legal crisis is never only about solving that legal problem. It is about so much more, more than can be seen or fully understood. “Grow Through What You Go Through” is not just a figure of speech. It is Victoria’s way of life, one she has shared with clients for twenty years and continues to share with as many people as she can.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Collaborative lawyering with a moral compass

We will never manufacture conflict in order to bill for resolving it. We tell you the truth about your case, your odds and your options, including the options that pay us less. Law practiced this way is not softer. It is stronger, because everything we build together is built on your real consent.

That is also why the mediation rates sit on this website rather than behind a phone call. A published rate is a promise you can hold us to, and it removes the first reason a referring lawyer has to choose somebody else.

It starts with one conversation. Tell us what is happening, and we will tell you honestly what you need, even when what you need is not us. That answer costs nothing, and it has saved people a great deal.
